Board Member Spotlight: Michael Mann, LMFT, Treasurer

"I joined SGV-CAMFT shortly after moving from community mental health into private practice. This work that we do brings me so much joy and purpose and it is only sweetened by the wonderful colleagues I have here in SGV. My work with families feels especially wonderful these days. To see the impact of a single person opening up, feeling safe, gaining insight, expressing themselves in healthy ways spreading into the whole family system right in front of me is definitely a privilege. I always enjoy getting to know my colleagues, so feel free to reach out and we’ll grab coffee or a bite to eat!"

Although most therapists say they use a “systems approach” to infidelity, it’s hard to maintain that perspective when cases are conceptualized as involving a selfish Betrayer and a heartbroken Betrayed. Learn fresh ways of looking at online and offline affairs, fidelity, and sexuality—to better evaluate patients, sort out individual and relationship issues, and help people heal from the experiences of powerlessness, disorientation, grief, rage, and damaged self-esteem that are common on both sides of betrayal.
