I retired, in 2018, after 31 years as an experienced psychotherapist capable of working with adults, individuals and couples. My expertise in creating a safe therapeutic environment was applied over the years in work with adults abused as children, couples, and support groups for cancer, AIDS and bereavement. Areas of emphasis were teaching stress management and self-soothing skills. Also, I taught communication skills to both individuals and couples. I was especially interested in working with clients with mid-life and beyond issues.
I also served as a CAMFT Certified Supervisor and as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor mentoring interns on their journey to become licensed. I was a BBS C.E.U. and NBCC provider for many years.
I particularly enjoyed helping interns and newly licensed therapists create a safe therapeutic environment with their clients. In 2008 I authored a book titled "Skilled Empathy-Creating Safety Through Therapeutic Attachment", specifically written to aid beginning therapists in developing their therapeutic skills.
I assisted clients with insurance reimbursement if it was available. I had numerous clients with PPO Insurance Plans that had 'out of network' mental health coverage that reimbursed a percentage of their out-of-pocket costs.
