Lunch & Learn — Walking the Line: Healthy Boundaries in Psychotherapy

How do we build and maintain proper boundaries? Since every therapeutic relationship is different, clinicians must navigate their own natural boundaries as well as those of each client — and do it in the moment! This month's lunch and learn will discuss what healthy boundaries look and feel like, certain boundaries that challenge therapists (such as fee-setting and cancellation policies), and how to handle boundary challenges with confidence.

About the Speaker

Nick Bognar is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Pasadena, specializing in men's issues and codependency. Nick has been in practice since 2015 helping individuals and couples navigate their own boundary issues and stand up for themselves. Nick is an alumnus of Phillips Graduate Institute, and a proud volunteer supervisor at the Southern California Counseling Center. The Lunch and Learn Speaker Series was created in 2017 in response to feedback from members who participated in our membership opinion survey. Every other month, we gather in Pasadena. Each meeting features a 20-25 minute program covering various topics relevant to our profession. During this luncheon, members have the opportunity to socialize and network, promote their businesses and, of course, enjoy a delicious meal.
