Presentation:

A Conversation About The Psychoanalytic Treatment of Addictions

Speaker: Dr. Lorrie Crawford

This workshop will include an introduction to psychoanalysis, treatment methods for addictions including the 12-step program and treatment from a psychoanalytic perspective ( dependence, omnipotence, early childhood development affect regulation, the treatment relationship and transference and countertransference challenges.)

Included will be a compassionate understanding of the inner world of an addict and how to employ psychoanalytic techniques in the treatment of addictions. Case material will be introduced and reviewed collaboratively.

Lorrie Crawford, PsyD. has worked for 25 years in the field of addictions.  In 1984, she was the Assistant Drug and Alcohol Advisor in The United States Navy.  She evaluated Navy personnel and referred them to substance abuse treatment.  She completed her doctorate and Ryokan College and is a graduate of the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute in psychoanalysis.  She integrates her experiences and promotes a compassionate understanding of her patients and their needs. Dr. Crawford has a private practice in Pasadena, CA.
